Bob Schlacks is a Southwest Michigan personal injury attorney dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate the legal challenges that arise after serious accidents. As a Berrien County injury lawyer, Bob focuses on guiding clients through the legal process after injuries caused by negligent drivers, unsafe property conditions, and other preventable incidents.

Bob is a founding attorney of Southwest Michigan Injury Lawyers, a firm created to provide personalized representation to people across Berrien County and surrounding communities. Along with his partner, Nate Harrington, Bob built the firm around the idea that people who have been injured should have a trusted guide to help them understand their rights and navigate the complex insurance and legal systems that follow an accident.
Before launching Southwest Michigan Injury Lawyers, Bob spent three years representing injured clients at Conybeare Injury and Accident Lawyers. During that time, he handled a wide range of cases, including car accident injury claims, premises liability cases, dog bite injuries, and other negligence claims. As a car accident lawyer in Southwest Michigan, Bob regularly worked with accident victims, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and experts to help clients pursue fair compensation and resolve claims.
Earlier in his career, Bob served as an attorney with the Berrien County Public Defender’s Office, where he represented more than 600 clients facing misdemeanor and felony charges. The experience provided extensive courtroom and trial practice and strengthened his ability to advocate for individuals during difficult and high-stakes situations.
Bob earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics, cum laude, from Eastern Illinois University with a minor in Pre-Law Studies. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago (now the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law).
His interest in litigation began during his undergraduate years when he joined the university’s mock trial team, where analyzing facts, applying the law, and presenting a case in court first captured his attention. In 2025, Bob was elected to the Board of Directors of the Berrien County Bar Association, where he currently serves as Treasurer.

Bob and his wife chose to make Southwest Michigan their home after several years in Chicago. The region holds deep personal significance for him—he was born in the area and spent many summers along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Today, he and his wife are raising their four children in the same community that shaped many of his own early memories.
